Serving Claremore and beyond
Devon is a birth and postpartum doula in Claremore Oklahoma and serving the entire Northeast Oklahoma area. She is also a childbirth educator utilizing the Your Birth Experience childbirth preparation course, Certified Lactation Counselor, belly binding specialist, and birth photographer. Devon believes that education is key to being able to effectively advocate for the birth experience women desire. She believes that with the proper education, a woman can not only be equipped to cope with the physical and emotional aspects of the birth but can empower herself to be her best advocate when working with her birth team.
It is Devon’s passion to support women in whatever they wish for their birth experiences through providing non-biased education before the labor and labor support during labor. It is also important to her that a woman be supported after the birth. Nothing can fully prepare a woman for what it means to be a mother until she brings that baby home. It can be an overwhelming time when a family is learning to take care of a new person and as a postpartum doula Devon is able to support families while they are doing it.
Devon has found a passion in birth work and birth photography and is constantly looking to improve her knowledge and skills by attending continuing education courses and reading as much as she can. Her accomplishments include being a Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Doula, a Certified Birth Doula, a postpartum doula, a Certified Your Birth Experience trainer, a Certified Lactation Counselor through Healthy Children’s project’s CLC training, holds a certificate of attendance for From Trauma to Triumph:When Survivors Give Birth training, and has a Certificate of Completion in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders from Postpartum Support International. She is also currently training to offer Placenta Encapsulation services.
Devon is committed to support her clients who may be one of the 25-30% of women who are survivors of sexual abuse and/or postpartum mood and anxiety disorders and has taken additional trainings in order to better serve these clients. It is important to destigmatize these issues so that women and their families are able to get the help that they need and deserve.
In 2007 Devon and her husband Daniel moved from Northern California back to his hometown of Claremore OK. Almost exactly a year later they welcomed their son Wyatt to the world and in 2010, precious Piper. She enjoys being involved in her church and says she can’t think of a better place to raise a family.
